Nonimmigrant Visa Application Process in Details

1. Determine your visa type

Determine which visa type is most suitable for the purpose of your visit to the United States. Information with regards to the most common visa types can be found hereThe Visa Wizard on the U.S. Government webpage provides further assistance

2. Submit your visa application Form DS-160

Complete the online visa application Form DS-160 on the U.S. Government website. Each applicant, including minors, must have their own Form DS-160 completed before starting the scheduling process. If more than one person is included in your passport, each person applying for a visa must submit their own Form DS-160. Any inquiries on completing the DS-160 will be addressed on DS-160 FAQs. Our support desk is not able to provide any guidance related to this process.

3. Create / sign in to your user account

Once you completed the DS-160 form, return to this page in order to create an account and continue the application process. If you already have an account on this page, proceed with the login. Information related to the scheduling profile can be found on our FAQ page

4. Complete your personal details and pay the MRV fee

In your scheduling profile, click on ”Create New” in ”My Dashboard” in order to start the process. Choose the country of application and the visa type, as per your DS-160 application form, enter your personal details, add the persons who are scheduling along with you (dependents) if applicable, select a delivery option (if this service is available in your country), and pay the visa fee. This webpage offers an overview of the current visa fees and the different payment options

 

5. Schedule the visa interview appointment

Once the payment is confirmed, your user account will display the calendar with available appointments, or the Interview Waiver Confirmation (if you qualified to apply by mail without interview, and if this service is available in your country). If you signed out or changed the tab, click on ”Pending Appointment Request” on your Dashboard in order to continue. In the calendar, select the Embassy or Consulate, the most convenient appointment date and time, and click on ”Select Post and Proceed” in order to conclude the scheduling.

6. Attend your visa interview appointment or Submit your application by mail

Gather the needed application documents according to your visa type and attend the visa interview appointment as scheduled, following the instructions given in the appointment confirmation. If this service is available in your country and you qualified for the mail-in procedure, submit the application documents according to the instructions in the Interview Waiver confirmation received. 7. Retrieve your documents

When the visa processing is completed, you will receive the documents back with the delivery option chosen during the application process. You may verify the status of your application at any time on the U.S. Government website.

The delivery status of the passport can be tracked through your user account on usvisaappt.com. If you have received a notification from the U.S. Embassy or Consulate to submit further documents, please follow carefully the instructions on the following webpage.

Once you have your passport back, please immediately verify if the data on the visa is correct and matches your bio data in the passport. If you find a mistake in your visa, please immediately proceed as per instructions on the FAQ page.

Personal passport collection at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate is not possible.
